Breaking: Delhi World Book Fair 2026 Opens with AI, EdTech Focus

Delhi World Book Fair 2026 Opens Today, Drawing Massive Crowds and Renewed Focus on Reading Culture

The much-awaited Delhi World Book Fair 2026 opened its doors today, marking a major moment for India’s education and publishing sector. Hosted at Pragati Maidan, the event is expected to attract over two million visitors in the coming days, making it one of the largest book fairs in the world.

Organised by the National Book Trust (NBT) under the Ministry of Education, the fair has waived entry fees this year to encourage wider public participation. More than 1,000 publishers from India and abroad are showcasing books across genres, including academic textbooks, competitive exam material, children’s literature, fiction, non-fiction, and digital learning resources.

Education experts say the fair comes at a crucial time when concerns around declining reading habits among students are growing. With increased screen time and short-form digital content dominating attention spans, initiatives like the Delhi World Book Fair aim to reconnect young learners with books and structured reading.

This year’s edition places special emphasis on education technology, artificial intelligence in learning, and digital publishing. Several stalls are demonstrating AI-powered learning tools, smart textbooks, and adaptive learning platforms designed for schools and higher education institutions. Seminars and panel discussions on the future of education, NEP implementation, and skill-based learning are also scheduled throughout the week.

Students preparing for board exams, competitive tests, and university admissions were seen in large numbers on opening day, browsing discounted academic books and exam guides. Parents and teachers have welcomed the fair, calling it a cost-effective and enriching resource for learners of all ages.

Officials from the Ministry of Education stated that events like this align with the government’s vision of promoting reading culture, lifelong learning, and inclusive education. The fair will remain open for several days, with themed days dedicated to children, educators, authors, and publishers.

As crowds continue to grow, the Delhi World Book Fair 2026 is not just a celebration of books, but a strong reminder of the role reading plays in shaping informed, skilled, and future-ready citizens.
