In a first-of-its-kind digital initiative, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has announced that hall tickets for the Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) 2026 will be sent directly to parents via WhatsApp, aiming to simplify access and reduce last-minute stress for students.
Education officials said the move is part of a broader push to improve communication with parents and ensure that crucial examination documents reach students without delays. Traditionally, hall tickets were collected from colleges or downloaded online, a process that often caused confusion, especially in rural areas or during peak exam periods.
Under the new system, hall tickets will be shared through registered mobile numbers linked to student records. Parents will receive the document as a WhatsApp message, allowing them to easily download, save, and print it if required. Officials stressed that the digital copy will be considered valid, though students are advised to carry a printed version to examination centres.
“This initiative is meant to reduce dependency on intermediaries and ensure transparency,” a senior education department official said. “Parents play a key role during board examinations, and keeping them directly informed helps avoid unnecessary anxiety.”
The decision has been widely welcomed by parents and students, many of whom see it as a practical step toward modernising examination processes. Teachers say the move could also reduce administrative burden on junior colleges, which often face heavy pressure from students seeking hall tickets close to exam dates.
The Telangana board has been increasingly adopting technology-driven reforms, including online fee payments, digital certificates, and faster result processing. Officials say WhatsApp was chosen due to its widespread use across urban and rural areas, making it more accessible than email-based systems.
However, the board has also cautioned parents to be alert to misinformation and verify that messages are received only from official sources. Helplines will be activated to assist students who face issues with mobile numbers or document access.
The Intermediate examinations for 2026 are expected to be held in March, with lakhs of students set to appear. With this initiative, Telangana joins a growing number of states exploring digital tools to make high-stakes examinations smoother and more student-friendly.
